\”The Great I AM\” isn\’t found anywhere in Scripture, it is nonsense invented by the early Roman Church.
I AM (ego eimi) is stated 71 times all throughout the NT by many different people and none of them were claiming to be God.
John 8:58 has nothing to do with Moses and the burning bush from Exodus 3. Jesus is answering the Pharisees\’ questions, and explaining that he is not only greater than Abraham but he is prophesied in Scripture even before Abraham.
The context of John 8:58 starts in verse 50. Jesus is explaining Judgment Day to the Jews, and if you believe you will not see death. The Pharisees didn\’t understand that Jesus was talking about the second death, so they asked him what he was talking about because Abraham died, you think you\’re greater than Abraham?!? So Jesus answered them and explained that Abraham looked forward to or saw his day in verse 56, the Pharisees then lied and misquoted Jesus in verse 57. Jesus never said that he had seen Abraham. The Pharisees were attempting to discredit Jesus because they wanted to hold on to their power and didn\’t want to admit that the promised Messiah had come.
